On September 12, 2018, Ban Ki-moon, the 8th Secretary General of the United Nations, delivered the keynote address of the 3rd Asia Leadership forum organized by the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies.

Ban’s lecture was entitled “The United Nations and Global Citizenship.” He addressed the responsibilities of citizens all around the world in meeting the United Nations’ sustainability goals, especially in curbing climate change. Ban also discussed his career and current humanitarian efforts with Sara Sievers, associate dean for policy and practice at the Keough School of Global Affairs. John Hewko, general secretary of Rotary International, moderated the event.

ND Studios delivered overflow viewing of the event on a video board at the Duncan Student Center on campus, as well for a select audience of ND students, alumni and friends at the Keough School’s office in Washington DC.

Liu Institute Director Michel Hockx said: “We are profoundly grateful to ND Studios for expanding the impact of the Asian Leadership Forum. Tickets for the event sold out very quickly, leaving many people disappointed. Having overflow capacity was fantastic."
